From Doug:
I listen to this podcast, Code Switch, on occasion. This recent episode was about language preservation and the efforts with the Hawaiian language recently.
It reminded me of the topic that Alex and I did with our ASpS class this year on Peru and indigenous language extinction.  (Monolinguism vs pluralinguism)

Languages die every two weeks.  How do we preserve languages?  What efforts were made to try to keep the Hawaiian language?

https://www.espanolistos.com/  Our hope in creating Españolistos was to get your Spanish from an intermediate level to a rich, advanced fluency. We believe the best way to do that is to immerse yourself in Spanish culture and embrace new vocabulary, concepts, accents and most importantly hear and speak in conversations.

Géopolitique, France Inter

advanced french podcast
This is a short and snappy podcast, with each episode clocking in at a maximum of four minutes. Bernard Guetta gives you the rundown on international relations, focussing on one topic at a time, in the form of a rhythmic monologue.

Sur la route, France Culture

advanced french podcast
Julien Gacon’s Sur la route is like going on an aural road trip; through interviews and conversations with locals, historians, researchers and writers, listeners are exposed to the rhythms of different walks of life.

狗熊有话说 (‘BearTalk’)

This is by far my favourite of the Chinese podcasts I listen to. The presenter is a guy from Kunming, and each episode consists of him talking about his interests and playing a few tracks that he likes. He often reads out feedback and messages from listeners as well.  Link: 狗熊有话说

静雅思听 (‘Justing’)

静雅思听 offers recordings of Chinese literature by various readers. Because of this it differs widely from 狗熊有话说 and 锵锵三人行. The Mandarin is generally very standard and rehearsed, and has more of a performance feel. Link: 静雅思听

Unique Field Trip??
Concordia Language Villages has a unique opportunity for language travel in the US. Village Weekends are three- and four-day programs for language students in grades 3-12. Programs are currently offered in Spanish, French, German and Chinese. Participants have continuous opportunities to use their present language skills and develop a higher level of proficiency during fast-moving, activity filled weekends based on a theme related to the target culture.
